TRAVIS HAFNER – Flourishing in the 2nd Chapter

Travis Hafner Travis was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 31st round of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft. He was a designated hitter and first baseman for the Rangers (2002), Cleveland Indians (2003-2012) and New York Yankees (2013).

His remarkable career was filled with awards and records along with the disappointments of injuries and disabled lists. Travis–

  • Shares the MLB-record of six grand slams in one season with Don Mattingly. (2006)
  • Hit for the cycle in Minnesota on August 14, 2002, the first Cleveland Indian to accomplish the feat since Andre Thornton in1978.
  • Was voted American League Player of the Month and Player of the Week honors.
  • Named 2005 Indians Man of the Year.
  • Was the second Cleveland Indian player ever to record 100 walks, 100 runs and 100 RBI in the same season. (2006)
